First trip to Scofield

Fourth of July weekend:
We went on our first trip to Scofield for the fourth of July. It was a fun but long weekend. McKade didn't sleep so good, I'm sure the pack and play was unfamiliar to him and we were out of his normal routine. It was nice to get away though and a fun weekend.

First tub bath

He liked the tub bath much better, here he is just chilling after it was done. So cute.

He was so relaxed during the bath even when we washed his hair. He cried when we took him out probably because it was cold. Paul was covering his "potty" so the pics can't be used as blackmail :).

2 week appointment

July 3rd:
We took McKade for his 2 week appointment on this day. I can't believe it's all ready been two weeks, they have flown by.
His stats: 7 lb 1 oz, 20.5 inches long.
Since he wasn't quite back to his birth weight the doctor is having us come back for the next several weeks to just to weight checks. Everything else checked out good. The doctor didn't hear the murmur that he had heard in the hospital which was good so no further follow up is needed on this unless it comes back later. They had done a chest xray, EKG and oxygen challenge test with a blood gas after in the hospital to follow up on the murmur and the doctor had Primary children's review all these things before he would let us go home. The doctor is going to have us have another EKG done at his 2 month appointment to just make sure all is still good. I think that since I'm a nurse he is being extra cautious because he says that if something is going to go wrong it will happen to a nurse's child. I'm glad that he is cautious because I would rather this than too lax.
All in all he is growing and doing great. He is much more alert now with longer periods during the day that he just hangs out taking the world in. How I would love to know what goes on in babies heads. He has been sleeping from about 10:30-11:00 to 5:30 am which has been nice to have a long stretch of sleep at night, hope he keeps this up.

Newborn pictures

July 1st:

Paul's sister Janice was so great and did newborn pictures for us. This was so much fun and I'm so glad we were able to capture our little guy in this stage. Janice does a beautiful job, this was just a pic i snapped and will post pictures when she finishes editng them. He was so good and slept great while we propped him up and posed him. I cried during the ones of just me and him because he was just so sweet and I don't want my little baby to grow. Thanks Janice, we really appreciate this.

Oh the fun of the billi Iights

Here is our naked little man. McKade had to be under the billi lights for several days because his billirubin was too high. This was awful because he hated the goggles and would get so pissed when we tried to put them on.

This was our solution. I would have to feed him and when he was asleep i would put him in the lights wrapped up to let him settle down than turn on the lights and unwrap him. He didn't like to be unwrapped if I put him in unwrapped. Than I used a burp cloth to shield his eyes because it wasn't working with the goggles. It was hard having to do the lights because I couldn't get much rest because someone has to watch him constantly and Paul had to work off and on so I couldn't "sleep when he sleeps" like they tell you to.

This was our last attempt before ditching the goggles and using the burp cloth. He would calm down for a second but start screaming again. Guess we all ready know who rules the roost around here.

One of too way many trips to the hospital for his billirubin to be checked. think it was harder on me and Paul to have to take him and have his heel stuck because his cry was sooo sad when they stuck him.

He is such a cuddly little guy and cuddles with daddy, so sweet. Paul is so funny because he was always worried he was hurting him when he holds him like this and is always asking "is he ok?"

First bath

June 23rd:
Needless to say McKade wasn't impressed with his first sponge bath. He screamed through the whole thing. Can't wait until we can bathe him in the tub when his cord falls off. He's such a scrawny little thing when he is naked. Little scrawny arms and legs but his skin is so wrinkly that it is so funny.
